If you are planning a wedding in New York City, it can sometimes feel like you have to choose between an extravagant, wildly expensive 10-hour event or a quick trip to City Hall. But what if your biggest priority is simply sharing a quiet, beautiful morning with your most important people? If you are a couple looking for a breathtaking and nature-forward venue that is affordable, intimate, and provides an unparalleled backdrop for natural photos, the morning ceremony permit at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a great option!

I recently had the absolute honor of capturing Adam and Rachel’s micro-wedding in BBG's Rose Garden. It was a beautiful time filled with family banter and laughs.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden Ceremony Info

Most people associate BBG weddings with large-scale, catered evening events that can easily push into the six figures. However, the Garden offers an alternative for couples who prioritize more of an intimate wedding – a morning ceremony permit. For a nonrefundable fee of $628, you gain access to a private hour before the garden opens to the public for up to 50 guests. You can choose between the Fragrance Garden, Japanese Garden, Osborne Garden, Plant Family Collection, Rose Garden, and the Water Garden. Ceremonies are permitted on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Bookings are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Spring and summer are very popular seasons, so plan early! The ceremony itself was incredibly grounding. The venue rules enforce a beautiful minimalism: there are no chairs (though wheelchairs are provided for those who need them), no tables, and no elaborate external floral arches. The visual focus was entirely on Adam, Rachel, and the thousands of blooming roses surrounding them.
