Proposals
Why Central Park?
If New York City is the greatest city in the world, then Central Park is its heart. And if you’re planning to propose, doing it here is about as iconic as it gets.
Central Park is huge (843 acres, to be exact), it is crowded, and the lighting changes drastically depending on where you are. As a photographer who has captured countless "Yes" moments here, I’ve learned that pulling off the perfect proposal is 20% romance and 80% strategy.
With landmarks around every corner in NYC, it can easily become overwhelming when selecting the spot. To help you navigate the decision of where to propose, I’ve curated this guide breaking down my absolute favorite spots and the hidden gems you need to know about for 2026.

My Top Three
These are the locations I keep coming back to. They offer the best mix of architecture, nature, and that undeniable "New York" energy.
San Remo Outlook
This is my favorite spot for a "nature meets city" look. You are standing on the edge of The Lake, surrounded by trees, but right across the water are the majestic twin towers of the San Remo building. It creates a natural frame that draws your eye right to the couple.
Gapstow Bridge
Right by the pond, this spot really shines in the fall and winter time. The reflection of the vibrant leaves in the pond are my favorite and having little duckies in the background make it all the more fun! While it gets crowded during the tourist-y season, you can count on me to clear the area out as you're about to walk up to propose.
Bethesda Terrace & Fountain
People ask me what my favorite spot is in Central Park and I have to say this one. The variety of photos you can get here are unmatched with the fountain, arcade, terrace, and stairs. Is you're planning on proposing here and would like a quiet, private moment, I would try to be an early bird as much as possible!
Other Incredible Spots to Consider
Bow Bridge
Bow Bridge curves gently over the lake with a skyline of trees and buildings behind it, really creating those romantic, cinematic shots. Plan your proposal at Bow Bridge early in the morning, especially on weekends. The light hits just right, and you might even get a quiet moment alone if you time it right.
Wagner Cove
Tucked away from the main paths, Wagner Cove will feel like your own secret corner of the world. There’s a wooden dock surrounded by trees, and just enough space for the two of you to forget the city even exists. It’s one of the more private spots for a Central Park proposal, and it’s where I often suggest clients go if they want something quiet, personal, and emotionally grounded. I recommend this spot for a spring or summer proposal!
Near Turtle Pond
Located in the middle of Central Park, the rocky area directly across from the King Jagiello Statue by Turtle Pond tends to be a little quieter if you're looking for more of a private moment. With Belvedere Castle in the background, it makes for a romantic and simple proposal moment.
Hernshead & Ladies Pavilion
Hernshead is a scenic outlook point right by the Lake, right in front of the Ladies Pavilion, an ornate cast-iron gazebo. The pavilion creates a beautiful architectural frame for your moment, while the rocks provide a front-row seat to the skyline. It’s a classic choice that feels sophisticated and adventurous. I love this location for couples who want a mix of architecture and nature without having to travel far between spots.
Cop Cot
Cop Cot is a beautiful rustic gazebo that's sheltered by trees and offers a shady, semi-private space. It's also popular place for weddings and can be reserved with a permit. It can be a little difficult to ensure you're the only one there for the proposal, so I would recommend an early morning proposal here if you choose to not reserve the space.

Logistics & FAQs

do i need a permit?
Nope! Only if you're planning on a big set up with signs, tables, or arches.

What's the best time to propose?
I highly recommend early mornings (8:00 AM - 11:00 AM) or late afternoons (3:00 PM - 6:00PM) on the weekdays to avoid crowds and have the best lighting.

What if it starts raining?

A light drizzle can make for really romantic photos! However, if it starts pouring hard, I always recommend Bethesda Terrace for cover.
